New Samsung Mobile Displays Hint At The Samsung Galaxy S IV

Image
Samsung showed off its Full HD Super AMOLED display at CES, which is expected to ship sometime this quarter. The Full HD display is 4.99-inches, which is the rumored screen size of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV . The new display will have a 1920 x 1080 resolution with 440PPI, and will also use 25% less battery than its competitors. The Samsung Galaxy S IV may also be running Samsung’s latest and greatest Exynos5 Octa processor , which is rumored to be using a current gen PowerVR 544MP3 GPU . Samsung also showed off these displays in some concept products. The interesting thing about them is that a few of them were curved displays. Now these aren’t the flexible OLED displays Samsung were showing off at their press conference, but they do have a slight bend to them. The curved displays could lead to some interesting software developments later on, one example being that the curved portion of the d...

Six-Pack Abs in 12 Weeks

Image
Day in Health by Lisa Collier Cool If a leaner, more chiseled body is one of your New Year’s goals, here’s an amazingly inspiring success story: Joe Warner went from chunky to hunky—including 6-pack abs—in just 12 weeks. Thanks to smarter workouts and a much healthier diet, he’s reportedly gained 22 pounds of muscle—and shed about 17.5 pounds of fat, with nearly all of the loss around the belly. Making this makeover even more remarkable, the Men’s Fitness deputy editor is an average Joe with a desk job—and works out just four hours a week. “If I can do it, anyone can,” Warner told the Daily Mail . “The regime I followed proves that you don’t need to spend hour after hour exercising to dramatically transform the way you look, even in a relatively short period of time.” What are his body-building secrets—and would they work for other average guys? Is it really possible to pack on that much muscle in three months? To find out, I talked to Neal Pire, MA, CS...

But EUC was set to expire Dec. 31, absent a budget deal in Congress to avert the so-called “fiscal cliff.” That deal was hammered o...

President Barack Obama will nominate John Brennan as his next director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

WASHINGTON (AP) —  Brennan, a 25-year CIA veteran, currently serves as Obama's top counterterrorism adviser. The White House says the president will announce Brennan's nomination during an event Monday afternoon. At the same event, an administration official says, the president will also formally announce that he is nominating Chuck Hagel as his next defense secretary. Both men must be confirmed by the Senate. Obama considered Brennan for the top CIA job in 2008. But Brennan withdrew his name amid questions about his connection to enhanced interrogation techniques while serving in the spy agency during the George W. Bush administration. Brennan denied involvement in the controversial interrogation tactics, including waterboarding, and has spoken out against them.

There Is A Shortage Of 1080p Displays

Sharp has been reported to be experiencing a shortage of 5-inch 1080p display panels due to the huge sales of its Sharp Aquos SH930W smartphone in Taiwan. The industry sources making these reports are saying that Sharp is behind on shipments for the panel due to high demands and they’re unsure when Sharp will be able to get up to speed. Sharp is one of very few producers of the 5-inch 1080p displays, and who knows what this means for major smartphone manufacturers. 2013 will see many smartphones carrying 1080p displays, so hopefully Sharp is able to get their act together soon. We don’t want another manufacturer fiasco like the one between LG and Google . Phone Arena
