#GalaxyNote3 Samsung's digital #notepad

Image
Samsung's new Galaxy Note 3 tablet includes new features that make it more intuitive   Sa msung  may be famous for making the only mobile phones that have successfully challenged the smartphone dominance of  Apple , but it’s in new categories of smartwatches and digital ‘Note’ tablets that it’s really trying to make its mark. And with the Galaxy Note 3 it’s on, as the name implies, its third generation of a product that attempts to make pen and paper redundant – I really liked the Note 2, and the Note 3 is even better. It continues to do all the things that many users would expect from modern handwriting recognition – even with fairly terrible handwriting, it will recognise most of what you put into the device via a stylus or via your finger’s scribbling on the screen. It’s really useful, albeit not reliably perfect. And it offers a huge, 5.7” full HD screen that looks lovely for movies and TV. Interestingly, more and more people are using t...

Samsung jealous of Apple lines, spies on launch.

Image
You’ve seen the commercials. Samsung’s “the next big thing is already here,” commercials where the company makes fun of people waiting in line for an iPhone (if you haven’t seen one, I’ve embedded a commercial above). A phone that’s already outdated. While the commercial certainly makes it seem as if the South Korean company thinks that waiting in Apple’s lines for a phone is ridiculous. But that commercial is clearly just a cover for what Samsung really thinks about Apple and its fans. According to reports, Samsung had representatives located near the lines at Apple’s Fifth Avenue store today surveying the line, and asking users questions about whether the line was shorter or longer than last year, and whether or not people were more excited. According to one Samsung representative there, it was because they were curious why Apple draws such large lines, and other companies don’t. ”Other companies release new phones, but there’s not as much passion and heat. It’s only Ap...

#BlackBerry delays launch of #BBM apps for #iOS, #Android

Nancy Blair, USA BlackBerry on Saturday hit pause on the rollout of iPhone and Android apps for its popular BlackBerry Messenger mobile social messaging service after an unreleased version of the Android app was posted online. That version saw 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours, the company said, but the unofficial version "caused issues," which the company continued to address throughout the day. The company did not specify what the issues were. MORE: BlackBerry to slash 4,500 jobs Customers who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will be able to continue to use it. "As soon as we are able, we will begin a staggered country roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone," the company said in a release. The unreleased version of the Android app will be disabled, the company said. Those interested in the official Android app can visit the BBM.com site to register for updates on availability or follow @BBM on Twitter. SHI...

#Pope says #Church must end obsession with #gays, #contraception, #abortion.

Image
. View gallery Pope Francis waves as he arrives to lead his Wednesday general audience in Saint Peter's Square at the … VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Francis said the Catholic Church must shake off an obsession with teachings on abortion, contraception and homosexuality and become more merciful or risk the collapse of its entire moral edifice "like a house of cards". In a dramatically blunt interview with an Italian Jesuit journal, Francis said the Church had "locked itself up in small things, in small-minded rules" and should not be so prone to condemn. Its priests should be more welcoming and not cold, dogmatic bureaucrats. The confessional, he said, "is not a torture chamber but the place in which the Lord's mercy motivates us to do better." His comments were welcomed by liberal Catholics; but they are likely to be viewed with concern by conservatives who have already expressed concern over Francis's failur...

#BBM COMING TO #ANDROID SEPT 21ST AND #IPHONE SEPT 22ND

Image
Is it finally the day? Are we dreaming? Will it matter? BlackBerry has finally announced a release date for BlackBerry Messenger going cross platform. It will be coming to Android on September 21 at 7 AM and to iOS on September 22 at 12:01 AM. Then we can all start chatting with our cross platform friends over what used to be the most coveted chat service in the world. When I ask “Will it matter?” I don’t say it in a mean way. There is absolutely nothing wrong with BBM, but every piece of functionality it had mastered years ago has been done and done better by other services. With the lack of proper chatting services on other platforms, companies put a lot of effort into their new services. Google Hangouts came out fantastic, and really makes BBM a little useless. But that definitely doesn’t mean that BBM won’t succeed. It actually has pretty good chances. It has an established brand name and a great reputation, even if that reputation is old. Adoption could skyrocket and use c...

#Quickoffice now free for all.

Image
10GB of free Google Drive storage for installing the app before Sept. 26 After  acquiring the app over a year ago , Google has just announced that Quickoffice is now free for everyone on both Android and iOS. The app, which is optimized for both phones and tablets, lets you edit and view Microsoft Office documents that are stored locally on your device without compromising formatting. The latest versions now let you work on documents that have been saved to your Google Drive as well, which is a huge deal for anyone that is used to dealing with Google Docs. Better yet, if you install Quickoffice from Google Play by September 26th and link up your Google account, you'll be offered an extra 10GB of Google Drive storage for two years. This is a great service, and we're going to assume that we'll continue to see more Quickoffice and Google Drive integration going forward. Source:  +Google Drive

iPhone 5C announced, features colourful polycarbonate shell, 4 inch display and A6 chip

Image
The biggest talking point this year has been Apple’s “budget” or “low-cost” iPhone. Earlier in the year the first leaked shell appeared online, and since then we’ve seen a steadily increasing stream of images and information regarding what we now know as the iPhone 5C. Today, Apple finally officially unveiled it in Town Hall, Infinite Loop, Cupertino. Design In what is fairly unsurprising news, the iPhone 5C looks exactly how we all expected – It has a hard-coated polycarbonate shell with black front bezel and a 4 inch Retina display. We all saw the leaks and it looks like at least some of those were accurate. Apple will also be selling iPhone 5C silicon covers at $29 each to accent your colour choice. A neat feature of the iPhone 5C is that the outer plastic shell is reinforced by a steel frame in which functions as a multiband antenna. Performance As for the internals, the iPhone 5C is the same as an iPhone 5. It contains an A6 chip and a...

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 3 VS GALAXY NOTE 2 AND GALAXY S4 AND HTC ONE

Image
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has arrived. While the device is a good replacement for last year’s Note II, Samsung has made it clear that the Note 3 will be one of the most important Android devices of the fall. The improved spec sheet puts the Note II to shame, but how does it stack up against other devices that are currently on the market? We’ve pulled together specs from the Samsung Galaxy Note II, Samsung Galaxy S 4 and the HTC One to give you an idea where the Note 3 really sits. Would you choose the massive Note 3 over today’s leading flagship devices?

MTV VMAs 2013: It Was About Miley Cyrus Taking the Fall.

Image
The 2013 edition of the VMAs was not about music. It wasn’t even about the symbolism I’ve described in past years. It was basically MTV saying: “There is nothing to celebrate in pop music this year, here’s an awkward, cringe-worthy display of everything that is wrong in the entertainment industry”. I’ve written extensive articles about past VMA awards because they were filled with occult symbolism and messages. This year, not so much. It was about promoting major artists and their newest albums. But mostly, it was about providing a “shocking” moment that would get mass media talking for days. Miley Cyrus provided it. Miley Cyrus: The Industry Slave Chosen to Take the Fall Miley Cyrus’ display at the VMAs was qualified by many as “trashy” and “embarrassing”. It was indeed a strange sight to see. It was as if she was doing it on purpose to embarrass herself. Well, here’s a moment of clarity: It WAS done on purpose and, moreseo, it was ALL staged. People commenting on Miley Cyrus...
